The following is a list of frequently asked questions, and possible solutions:

• How do I find an address?
  There's two ways:
  1. From the GIS home page tick the Terms and Conditions box . Type the house number in the Number(Optional) field and type the road/street name into Road/Street Name.
  2. In the map window: click on the drop down arrow beside Legend and select Search, from the second drop down box select Find An Address and follow the instructions on the screen. For further information visit Searches.

• How do I print an aerial map of a property?
  Run a property search; in the top left corner of the map window click on Quick Layers and select Aerials 2009 (Urban) or Aerials 2005 (Rural), to zoom in further use the tool. On the left panel, click on the drop down arrow beside Information, select Print . Change the scale to suit, add a map title, and then click on Print at the bottom of the pane. • Why does nothing happen when I run a search?
  - Are Pop-ups being blocked on your browser? For more info visit Getting Started.
  - Check whether the map window has opened but sitting behind the current window/s.
  - Go to tools >> Internet options >> Security and reset defaults. (Ensure support for Javascript and accepting cookies is enabled).
  - Go to tools >> Internet options >> Security and add http://www.pcc.govt.nz as a Trusted Site.
  - Is it possible what you have searched for does not exist within the Porirua city boundaries or it has not been recorded. NOTE if a street number doesn't exist the map will open up on the street/road.
  

• The layer I want doesn't seem to be on in the map, where can I find it?
  - Go to the Legend Panel when the map loads up, scroll down the list of layers to see if the layer you want is there.
  - If it is in the list, but does not appear on the map, then tick the first check box and hit Apply.
  

• How do I show labels for a layer?
  Not all layers have labels. To see if a layer has labels, tick on the last tick box in the Legend Panel of the layer you're interested in and hit Apply.

• How do I turn off all labels?
  Use the toggle labels tool which will turn all labels on or off .

• How do I show Contours?
  Click first box in the Legend Panel to turn on Contours layer, now tick on the last tick box and hit Apply.

• Where is the Legend Panel?
  On the left hand side of the map there will be an Information Panel. Click on the drop down arrow alongside Information, and select Legend

• How do I find out more information about a feature on the map?
  - In the map window, click on the and click on the feature/item you are interested in. On the left hand panel there will be information available on that specific feature.
