Using Exponare Public

Once you have started Exponare Public you will see an map with a panel on the left (information, legend, print etc) and the map tools (Quick Context, Quick Views, Home, etc). To find out what each of the tool icons are, move your cursor above the icon and its name will pop up.

The most common tasks performed by users of Exponare Public are navigating around the map and selecting features of interest on the map. There are various options for how you can move around the map, (eg, zoom, pan, views, etc) and selection options. There are also options for viewing data about the selected features. To get started, click on one of the tools below then click on the map window:

• Zoom In ,
• Pan , and
• Point Select  .

Once you feel comfortable these with these basic map tools, experiment with the other tools. For example, a good feature to become familiar with early on is the Change Work Context feature (available from Quick Contexts menu or the Home button's drop-down menu ).

The different Work Contexts offer different maps with different layers. There is a Parcel Work Context (Services, Public Amenities, etc), Census Work Context (Census Information of Porirua City), and the District Plan Work Context (Planning Zones, Permitted Activity Zones, Land Cover Database, etc)
